Martha: The store’s iconic folk figure, Martha turns heads with her stylish comment on everything from local events like the Yukon Quest, the Rubber Ducky Race, to the Arctic Winter Games to road construction and holidays in Fairbanks, Alaska. Everyone in town knows Martha and If Only customers know her by name.
A Story to Tell: If Only…a fine store is the brainchild of five women who wanted to bring products they longed for to their hometown of Fairbanks, Alaska. Opening in May of 1998 in a tiny space, the store now boasts 2,600 square feet of delightful shopping. From its gallery-like selection of handcrafted jewelry to quality personal care items and home décor, there is something for every discerning shopper.
Partnership: Seattle's mart is an important source of products for If Only buyers who make the 3,000 mile trip to Seattle several times a year to write orders necessary to keep their eclectic product mix fresh and delightful. Forging friendships over the years makes each trip a rewarding adventure. There is never enough time at market to accomplish everything on the list.
About the Owners: Two of the original owners continue on in the business. Georjean Seeliger and Rebecca Morse both grew up in entrepreneurial families with a strong emphasis on creativity and enterprise. Both retired from careers in education. Georjean channels her passion for art into store display, and Rebecca enjoys demystifying fountain pens for customers of all ages.
