When we learned that the Pacific Market Center was closing, it didn’t take long to decide to conclude that we need to establish a new wholesale mart. At stake were not only our livelihoods but the survival of retailers who count on us for goods and services. Main Street mattered.

Believing we’re “better together,” a core of passionate showroom Principals began their
search for a new building. A beautiful brick building less than a mile from the Pacific Market Center was soon identified. The building, constructed in 1929, was Boeing’s original corporate headquarters. This gave us pause. If buildings have stories to tell, then this building
spoke volumes.

What followed was a series of meetings with tenants and the building's owners to
secure commitments. Creating a market center largely through a core of volunteers was
not a standard business model but over time, both tenants and owners were convinced
it could work.

A new building provided new opportunities. It signaled the beginning of a new era for our mart and a new way of thinking. This was the moment to create an entirely re-designed experience for our customers built on an overriding belief that Main Street matters.
